This privacy policy explains how personal data is handled when you use Progressive Workouts for iOS, Progressive Workouts for Android, or Progressive Workouts Pro for Android (collectively, the “Apps”), visit this website, make a purchase, or contact us.

2. Workout data stored on your device

The Apps store the workout information you enter, such as routines, exercises, sets, repetitions, weights, durations, and progress, locally on your device. We do not operate an account service or a server that receives this workout database. The data may be included in device backups managed by your operating-system provider under your settings and its privacy terms.

On Android, Progressive Workouts Pro offers an import function that can copy workout data from the free Android App on the same device. This transfer takes place locally between the two Apps and is not sent to us.

You can change or delete workout data in the Apps. Deleting an App removes its locally stored data from the device, subject to any device backup you have enabled.

3. Privacy-friendly product analytics (iOS)

The iOS App uses TelemetryDeck to understand whether core features work well and which high-level parts of the App are used. The provider is TelemetryDeck GmbH, Von-der-Tann-Str. 54, 86159 Augsburg, Germany.

The App sends a deliberately limited set of events, including first launch, opening or starting a routine, logging the first set, completing a workout, reaching a progression milestone, viewing the support screen, completing a purchase, and opening the feedback action. These events can include only broad categories, such as whether a routine is recommended, predefined, or custom; a bucketed number of completed workouts; or the type of purchase.

The App does not send exercise or routine names, individual weights, repetitions, set values, workout durations, free text, email addresses, or account data to TelemetryDeck.

TelemetryDeck also receives an anonymized identifier that is specific to the App installation, an hourly-rounded timestamp, and technical metadata such as the App and operating-system versions, build source, and device model. According to TelemetryDeck, IP addresses are not stored and usage data is hosted in the European Union. We do not use these analytics events to identify you, advertise to you, or track you across apps or websites.

The processing serves our legitimate interest in measuring and improving the App while collecting as little data as possible (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You may object by contacting us. Further information is available in TelemetryDeck’s Privacy FAQ and Privacy Policy.

4. Advertising and consent management

The free versions of the Apps may display advertisements provided by Google AdMob. We use Google’s User Messaging Platform (“UMP”) to obtain and store privacy choices where required and to determine whether ads may be requested. The relevant Google entity for users in the European Economic Area and Switzerland is generally Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

Depending on your region and choices, Google’s SDKs may process technical and usage information such as IP address, approximate location derived from it, device and app information, interactions with the App or ads, diagnostic and performance information, and identifiers permitted by the platform and your consent. This processing is used to request, deliver, measure, secure, and prevent fraud in relation to advertisements.

The iOS App does not request Apple’s App Tracking Transparency permission and does not intentionally access the advertising identifier (IDFA). On Android, Google’s Mobile Ads SDK may collect the Android advertising ID, app set ID, and other device identifiers as permitted by the platform, device settings, and your privacy choices. The Android advertising ID can be reset or deleted in the Android settings. Google may also use app-specific identifiers where permitted. We do not intentionally enable tracking across other companies’ apps or websites. If consent is required, advertising is requested only when the UMP consent state permits it.

Where consent is legally required, the processing is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can review or change applicable choices using “Privacy Options” in an App’s User Settings whenever Google requires that entry point. Withdrawal does not affect processing that took place before withdrawal. Otherwise, processing necessary to provide and secure ads is based on our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

5. Purchases through Apple and Google Play

In-app purchases in the iOS App are handled by Apple’s App Store. Progressive Workouts Pro for Android is sold as a separate paid App through Google Play, which handles its purchase and download. We do not receive your payment-card or bank-account details. Apple and Google process transaction and account information under their own privacy terms. The iOS App receives the product and transaction status necessary to provide the purchased feature or tip and to restore purchases.

A successful purchase in the iOS App also generates a TelemetryDeck event containing only the broad product category (for example, remove ads or a tip size), as described in section 3. The Android Apps do not use TelemetryDeck. The legal basis for purchase processing is performance of the purchase contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and compliance with legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).

6. Feedback and email

If you use a feedback button in an App, the App asks your selected email application to prepare a message. No email is sent automatically. If you send it, we process your email address, message, and any information you voluntarily include in order to answer and provide support. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your request concerns a contract, and otherwise our legitimate interest in responding to users (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We delete support correspondence when it is no longer required, unless statutory retention duties apply.

7. Website access

When you access this website, the hosting infrastructure may temporarily process technical request data required to deliver and secure the site, such as IP address, requested page, time, browser, operating system, referrer, and response status. This is based on our legitimate interest in providing a stable and secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Log data is deleted when it is no longer needed for operation and security, unless an incident requires longer retention. This website does not use TelemetryDeck or advertising cookies.

8. Recipients, transfers, and retention

Data is disclosed only to the providers described above and to technical service providers where necessary. TelemetryDeck states that App analytics usage data is stored in the European Union. Google may process data in countries outside the European Economic Area. Where required, Google relies on approved safeguards for such transfers; details are available in Google’s privacy documentation.

Local App data remains until you delete it or the App, subject to backups. Analytics, consent, advertising, and transaction data are retained according to the purposes and settings described above, provider terms, and applicable legal retention periods. We retain data under our control only as long as necessary for its stated purpose.

9. Your rights

Subject to the conditions of the GDPR, you may request access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), or object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). If processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time with future effect. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR).

To exercise these rights, contact progressiveworkouts@gmail.com. Because identifiers used for iOS App analytics are anonymized and we do not operate user accounts, we may be unable to associate analytics records with a particular person.

We may update this privacy policy when the Apps, providers, or legal requirements change. The current version and update date are published on this page.
